San Antonio, occupies approximately 430 square miles, is the seat of Bexar ("bear") County in the heart of South Central Texas. The Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) consists of Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe and Wilson Counties. San Antonio is located in the heart South Central Texas, approximately 140 miles northwest of the Gulf of Mexico and 150 miles northeast of the city of Laredo on the Mexican border.

San Antonio has a modified subtropical climate because of its location on the edge of the Gulf Coastal Plains. The average temperature is 86 degrees. During the summer months the temperature will be above 90 degrees 90% of the time. During the short winter months there are only about 20 days where we dip below freezing. The humidity in San Antonio varies from an average of 80% in the early morning and drops to an afternoon level of 50%. The Alamo City averages about 28 inches of rain per year with May and September being the busiest months.

San Antonio has an event that attracts every type of person over the course of the year. San Antonio is a city that boasts many different cultures where Old Mexico, Native America, Germany, Africa, the Wild West and the Deep South meet and merge. Some of the more popular attractions annually include Fiesta-San Antonio, Texas Folk life Festival, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival, Celebrate San Antonio (New Year’s Celebration), Jazz Alive, and the Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony.
We also host a number of professional sport teams including that always popular NBA Championship San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Silver Stars, the San Antonio Missions Double A baseball team and AHL Rampage hockey team. The Valero Texas Open and the Alamo Bowl are held here annually as well.
